Wild Music

BBC Radio 4

Award-winning poet John Burnside recently received a CD of Solan Goose by brilliant young composer Erland Cooper. For Burnside it was totally transportive “singular, incomparable music” reconnecting him with nature in a profound way.

Erland’s work has been described as ‘sonic postcards’ of Orkney – inspired by local dialect, birds, landscapes and the sea. A mix of contemporary classical, ambient and electronica.

The two meet for the first time on Orkney – Erland invites John to accompany him as he collects found sounds his next album – while John responds by composing a series of new radio poems.
