Global Dancefloor
DJ and reporter Frank McWeeny takes us inside two of the most exciting, cutting-edge underground nightlife scenes around the world – Beirut and Salvador, Brazil.
The programmes reveal an authentic, alternative account of life in countries where social inequality and political instability are omnipresent.
In Beirut, a DIY music community is trying to keep nightlife alive amid Lebanon’s political and economic crises. This scene is fighting tirelessly to remain active, whilst protesting against corruption, and rebuilding both physically and psychologically after the city’s 2020 explosion and fire. While, in Brazil, a queer and PoC collective is changing perceptions by advocating for freedom of self-expression through music, dance, education and community politics.
